Values, Interests, Abilities And Skills Prompt

So today I went to a CVTC Workshop in Eau Clare. It was really interesting, and I took a lot away from it as to where I want to be and what I want to do. I brought home a bunch of notes and stuff, and thought I'd use some of the worksheets as prompts for my blog to get it going. This is the first in the series.

  1. What do I value?
There are many ways to define value. The best way I know is to think of the things that you think about most on a day to day basis. My list is as follows: family, friends, school, relationships, money, work, and organization. That list varies from a day to day basis, but most days those are the things I think about.

Family: The reason I value family is beause no matter what I know they will always be there, for better or for worse. Now, who I concider family is completely different that what most people think. My godparents are a big key for me at this point, as is my Grandmother and younger brother. My elder brother is a step down from them, with all those other people related to me by blood at the bottom. Concidering what I've been through (which I may still explain in a later post) I think those rankings are pretty good.

Friends: I have very few close friends. Akii and Branth being the two closest ones, and I would go to the ends of the earth for both of them. I dont care about casual aquaintances, because I know that they can always change their opinion or they always want something from me. But I am still quick to introduce myself and to listen to people, though I may not remember their names later on. I'm of the firm belief that you can make an impact on everyone you meet. Weather that is a positive or negative impact is up to you.

School: Though I have not always done well or attended often, I've always known that school would be a big part of my life. I value school because I know that if I want to do anything productive with my life I need to be in school or at least looking twards further education, which is why I'm currently attending a bunch of semenars and working twards my GED.

Relationships: I'm talking more about romantic relationships, but this pertains to any sort of relationship I have. Again I believe that you can either make a positive or negative impact on anyone, its your choice whitch. For instance, though I have had many experiences where I have not had the best boyfriends, I still believe that there is someone out there for me. Its just a matter of finding him.

Money: We all know that money is a big part of everyone's life. We need money for food, we need money for medicine, pretty much anything you need or want. But when you do not have money, it plays a huge part in what happens. We all take for granted that when we hit the switch the lights will turn on. But what happens when there is no switch? What happens when you have to rely on yourself to create enough heat to sleep at night? Those are concerns that I have had to deal with before, and why money is a value today.

Work: Work ties in with money because we all have needs and people that need to meet those needs. What you decide to do with your life is your buisness, weather it be flipping burgers or sitting in the oval office. But the needs that we all want met tie into what money we make to survive.

Organization: I have become an organization freak. I am constanly trying to think of new ways to do things, making lists, setting goals, etc. It has become a major factor in my life and I think a positive one. I love to organize my clothes and know where things are as apposed to digging through different bags to find a certain shirt. Thats just an example, but I'm hoping everyone will know what I mean :)
  1. What are my interests?
There are many different things I'm interested in. I like helping people, I like reading and writing (obviously) and I like helping animals. But the one I've chosen to really pursue is helping people because I think that is where I can do the most good. I will still continue in the other interests I have, but they all tie into my chosen path.

  1. My Academic Skills
My academic skills can be mesured two ways: One, by the years I actually attended high school and two, by what I am doing right now. But I think that is a different prompt or post.
  1. Personal Skills
My personal skills vary. They can be measured by the jobs I've held or the people I've helped. Personally, I think my most valuable skills are organization and the ability to know what people need, or want. I am very good at working out problems with people and finding solutions to things that they may not know hot o solve on their own.

Ok so I'll admit twards the end I became a bit scatter brained but I think the point came across well. Later I'll post some links to some interesting servays.
